Sara Maria Sprinkhuizen is a physicist, with a PhD in MRI physics from Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Core aspects of that work were the development of new MRI scanning techniques, medical image processing, and computer simulations of biological processes. Sara has a very strong interest in data visualization, and the communication of complex ideas through visuals. Combined with her love for multidisciplinary spaces and a fascination for the microbiome, she could not believe her luck when she learned about Biota Beats, a project that brought all of these interests together one place.
